I care about my planet

We are the bees, and we want you to listen to us, because your home is also ours. Many years ago, your home was our home, but little by little you displaced us. Now we are in danger... and so are you. That is why we come to look for alternatives that allow the continuity of our planet.

We know that sometimes you don't think about us or the other animals. But we have a heart, and we also feel pain. It is sad to look into the future and realize that our planet can no longer cope with so much garbage and waste that is generated every day in factories, restaurants and many other activities made to make you feel happy.

However, it is important that you think about your family's future. What are you going to leave your children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews? Don't you think they should also have the opportunity to eat a delicious peach?

​

We are hard workers. We wake up around six in the morning and come back at sunset. We collect pollen and take it to other flowers to reproduce. We give you the best delicacy: our honey, which we make from the nectar of the flowers. But we are finding it harder and harder to find. We don't have enough food anymore, and what little we do get sometimes hurts us... even kills us.

Our family is dwindling. And, if nothing is done, yours will start to, too. That's why we want you to help us, because only you have the power to decide our continuity and that of other species. We are part of an army of pollinators, along with hummingbirds, flies and butterflies. We represent them, because our family is very large.

Fortunately, not all humans have forgotten us. There are those who still care. Here, in Tulcán, we found an opportunity: we have the first ordinance in Ecuador that welcomes us, protects us and those who take care of us, the beekeepers.

We have achieved a lot, but we still have a long way to go.
